SMI Attend the Submarine Institute of Australia Conference

We are delighted to once again be attending the Submarine Institute of Australia Conference this week in Canberra (7th – 8th November).

With the focus on Life of Type Extension (LOTE) for the Collin Class we are looking forward to hearing the latest developments on varying topics including the Key Challenges Facing Submarine Transition by Marcus Hellyer and Adam Waldie’s presentation on Preparing for an Australian Submarine Combat System LOTE.

SMI has been supplying the Australian Navy for more than 22 years. Through its TelemetriX™ platform, SMI is not only supporting future submarine capability in the UK, Canada and Australia but retrofit designs are enabling early deployment of pioneering tactical technologies onto current platforms. The TelemetriX™ architecture has been developed by SMI to allow rapid, secure, and dependable interoperability between critical naval systems in the submarine and surface fleet. Power, control and high-speed data transfer are delivered on a dependable infrastructure which ensures performance and long-term reliability.

Built from a 25-year legacy supplying the submarine fleets in the UK, Canada and Australia, the technology that has delivered more than 10,000 installations with zero leaks has been devel oped to support the future capabilities of enhanced combat, communication and acoustic systems.

This year’s SIA conference comes as the business enters an exciting new period with new premises for local design and manufacturing in West Australia which form part of its Australian Capability Plan for Collins and future programmes. “We are entering a new and exciting phase for the business here in Australia with technology transfer and local manufacturing key to our enhanced relationship with the Commonwealth of Australia,” says CEO, Keith Wells who will be attending the conference.
