SMI returning to the outside world at DSEI in five weeks’ time
It feels like such a long time since we’ve attended industry events in person. We’re grateful for the availability of video conferencing during the pandemic but there’s nothing quite the same as meeting people face to face. We are excited to announce that our first big foray into the real world will be exhibiting at Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London between 14 and 17 September 2021.
We use the word ‘big’ because DSEI is very large. If you’re in the defence industry, you’ll be very familiar with its scale. In 2019, more than 1,700 exhibitors had the opportunity to meet over 36,000 visitors. We can’t know how the industry will react to this opportunity to network and find new information but the conversations we’ve had indicate there is a lot of pent-up enthusiasm to get out into the world and meet face to face.
Our stand is at location H6-214, which straddles the air and naval domains as we are showcasing both our marine and aerospace products.
In concept, SMI products form the central nervous system of both marine vessels and aircraft, providing reliable ‘fit and forget’ connectivity for critical systems that can last the life of the platform. For nearly 30 years, SMI has been the technology leader in the design and production of connector and cable solutions in naval defence, both above and below the waterline. Our aerospace solutions accommodate thermal expansion and contraction during changes in altitude, as well as resisting a complete range of other potential stresses and contaminates.
Our core team at the event includes Jenny Shaw, Jo Burke and Amber Flower, with most other members of our senior team available to talk with on certain days. As we alluded at the top of this post, DSEI really is approaching very fast. Before we know it, we’ll be at London’s ExCel meeting lots of old friends and making new ones. We really hope you can make it to the show and will stop by our stand to say hello to us.
