New Projects, Existing Systems & Maintenance
To ensure compliance with the approved Transport for London approvals calling for limited fire Hazard (LFH) sheaths on cables. We will match the compounds used on each cable by gaining the correct material compounds from the manufacturers on new systems or by sampling existing products. This ensures total integrity on all connectorised ends and joints. To add to this all mouldings will be water blocked insuring no water or moisture ingress can get to the connections. This process gives 100% efficiency as demanded by the rail industry. This improves ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ (T.C.O.) by means of less system downtime due to connection failures.
This technology is suitable for cables used in:
- Rolling Stock
- Points Systems
The manufacturing process is based on the “Fit and Forget” ethos. This means the products are tested at all stages of manufacture. This is also strengthened by internal deep cycle testing using the latest x-ray procedures and constant quality control.
Compatibility with Current Systems
To ensure compatibility with the approved TfL design, which calls for Limited Fire Hazard (LFH) on each cable. SMI will match the compounds of each product which will give total integrity on all connectorised ends and joints. To add to this each moulding will be water blocked insuring that no water or moisture can track through the cable to the connections.
This will be achieved by gaining the correct material compounds from the manufacturers on new systems or by sampling existing product where the sheath can analysed to confirm its construction.
