Unassailable Fit & Forget Pressure Moulded Cable Systems for Hostile Environments

Congratulations Anneka

Last summer we were delighted to host Anneka Gordon from the Plume Academy in Essex for one of her two week’s work experience.

As well as working within our headquarters in Andover learning about the production of cables harnesses for hostile environments, Anneka benefitted from brilliant insight from a number of other companies who gave generously of their time to ensure she was exposed to the range of potential engineering opportunities available as a career path. JFD, Quoceant and IKM Consulting all took time to showcase their activities with inspirational case studies. It was particularly interesting to hear from so many talented female engineers championing STEM roles.
Anneka excelled at her exams over the summer this year attaining a raft of exemplary GCSEs and the highest maths exam mark in her school and is now continuing her STEM education with a number of A Levels.

The Plume Academy programme focuses on the “experience of work” with a view to developing employability skills and understanding possible career pathways. Anneka spent the second week of her experience at a local architect and this week they recognised her achievement and hard work during her placements with an award for ‘Best Work Experience Student’.

SMI (SMI) is a keen advocate of STEM careers. They regularlysupport the careers programmes of Andover schools, have participated in engineering fairs for students arranged by local MP, Kit Malthouse, and have run an apprentice scheme for many years. SMI would again like to thank all those companies who supported this activity last year and we send our congratulations to Anneka.
