Unassailable Fit & Forget Pressure Moulded Cable Systems for Hostile Environments

SMI Accredited with Cyber Essentials Plus

SMI has been accredited with Cyber Essentials Plus in the government scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common online security threats.

The full Cyber Essentials scheme, launched in 2014, was developed in collaboration with industry partners such as the Information Security Forum, the Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises Consortium, and the British Standards Institution and is backed by the Federation of Small Businesses, the CBI and a number of insurance organisations.

The UK Government requires all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme. SMI recently gained certification against the more rigorous Cyber Essentials Plus Standard which requires independent auditing and testing of the company’s policies and systems.

The Cyber Essentials certification process requires that there are five technical controls in your company, and in order to pass the self-certification your organisation must meet all of the requirements:

  • Firewalls
  • Secure Configuration
  • User Access Control
  • Malware Protection
  • Patch Management

SMI has a long pedigree working with the Ministry of Defence on programmes requiring cable harness systems for long term reliability in hostile environments and remain the only manufacturer to hold 23 years continuous capability requirement for the manufacture of submarine pressure hull penetrators.

Keith Wells, CEO, said:

“We are proud to have completed Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation. It’s a way of demonstrating that the assurances and reliability synonymous with our products extend to our IT systems and I trust it will give our customers further confidence that all aspects of their business are valued and safeguarded”
