Unassailable Fit & Forget Pressure Moulded Cable Systems for Hostile Environments

SMI Appointments Support Record Growth

SMI (SMI) has defied the challenges of 2020 to deliver record growth and added further talent to its team. The cable system manufacturer has delivered its fifth successive year of compound growth and is set to grow tenfold in ten years.

New SMI Appointment, Dan
Dan Garramone

With its headquarters in Andover, UK, SMI has maintained uninterrupted manufacturing throughout the coronavirus crisis in support of critical infrastructure projects in defence and energy. Pressure moulded cable systems designed and manufactured by SMI form the central nervous system for a range of platforms in transport, aerospace, marine and renewable energy.

2020 has demonstrated more than ever the co-dependency between SMI and their supply chain.

Maintaining component supply has been essential during the lockdown periods and SMI has been able not only to assign key worker status to critical suppliers, but also to forward procure parts de-risking programmes for their customers and enabling those suppliers to de-furlough staff and maintain operations.

Dan Garramone Joins the Business As Head of Supply Chain

Dan joins SMI to continue to nurture those relationships and to align capabilities through the supply chain to meet clients’ demands and maintain SMI’s market leading position in the provision of fit and forget cable systems.

With a background in electronics, Dan has spent the last decade in procurement across a range of categories and his expertise will balance the need to bring economies and efficiencies for key products and services with maintaining a robust post-Brexit supply chain and delivering our public and private sector clients’ broader social agenda.

Dan said that SMI’s supply chain will notice the changes gradually: “As we strengthen strategic partnerships we’ll also be looking at our suppliers’ credentials to ensure they support sustainability, health and safety and social objectives such as helping to eliminate modern slavery.”
