30 Years of Success For SMI
We were delighted to welcome colleagues from the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) to join us in celebrating a milestone birthday this week.
The SDA annual review, which marked another year of supporting in-service submarines, coincided with our 30th birthday. SMI is the only company in the world which holds Capability Approval, from the UK Ministry of Defence, for the production of submarine pressure hull glands and polyethylene cable systems.
Established in 1992, and now operating in five countries, SMI has delivered year on year growth for six consecutive years despite the challenges associated with Covid-19 and Brexit.
Chief Executive Officer, Jenny Shaw, said “It was a pleasure to take the time to gather together this week to take pride in three decades of world leading manufacture. Many of our team have been with the organisation for more than twenty years and we have welcomed a raft of talented new colleagues this year too. Our business developments and technical innovations across all our operating sectors promise continued success for many years to come.”
