Helping The Helpers

Enham Trust is a Hampshire based charity that provides services to over 6,500 disabled people each year. They focus on 3 aspects in someone’s life – care, housing and employment, supplying a wraparound service tailored to the individual and their specific needs.

This approach not only helps solve the physical challenges that many disabled people face, but also enhances independence and overall quality of life as Enham focus their expertise on the person’s ability, not their disability.

SMI (SMI) have long been impressed by this local charity and were dismayed to learn about a recent break in to one of the outbuildings and the theft of vital gardening equipment, essential to the employment activity of the Trust. So SMI couldn’t help but become involved.

They have recently made a substantial donation to the Trust to help implement enhancedsecurityarrangementsincluding a new CCTV system to ensure this type of break in will never happen again.
As SMI’s Head of People, Catherine Jennings put it: “We are a local company operating for over 25 years in Andover, so to hear about this happening on our doorstep was something we needed to help put right. Enham Trust are a fantastic charity and we hope other local businesses will take our lead and get also get involved”

SMI is the world leader in designing and manufacturing pressure moulded cable harnesses for hostile environments and is active in the community attending open days at local colleges and sponsoring the Testway Youth Football League for the last 3 years. They also have a thriving apprentice scheme encouraging STEM education.
