SMI Embarks on ‘Andover to Perth’ Charity Challenge

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare and extremely serious neuromuscular condition. To help support families affected by the condition, SMI is about to embark on an ambitious team challenge to raise money for the wonderful charity, SMA UK

Starting on 1 May and continuing until the end of the year, SMI employees will collectively travel 9,000 miles, the equivalent of the distance from Andover to SMI’s office in Perth, Australia. The catch is, the team’s miles only count if they’re self-powered. Walking, running, cycling, swimming and using gym equipment are good examples. But employees could be on unicycles. It’s their choice.

To keep track of our progress, participants will submit the number of miles they’ve achieved on a weekly basis. These will be added to the company total so we can easily see how far we’ve travelled.

As we make progress on our journey, we will reach famous cities along our route. At those milestones, we will update our challenge map to show have far we’ve travelled. Look out for those updates on our social media profiles, LinkedInTwitter and Facebook

Our Just Giving team page is the central point for our fundraising, with money raised through individual employee pages automatically added to our team total. If you would like to donate, please visit those pages. SMI is making a corporate donation.

SMA UK is a brilliant charity and we hope our effort this year will make a big difference to the support it is able to provide to families who are facing very difficult circumstances.
