SMI support aerospace and transport in achieving net-zero
SMI were pleased to be part of WE-Zero Virtual ZEROe 22, a three-day conference discussing the pathway to net Zero.
Responding to the UK’s COP26 commitment to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, the South West Aerospace and Advanced Engineering sectors came together to collaborate at the event hosted by WEAF (West of England Aerospace Forum).
WEAF held a virtual H2 SW summit in 2021 and launched the West of England Zero emissions cluster, “WE-ZERO”, to bring together stakeholders involved with the development of the Net Zero emission ecosystem in a regional collaborative cluster. SMI’s thermoplastic moulding technology for cable harnesses supports electrification for aerospace and offers fit and forget resilience and reliability in the most hostile transport environments.
Cost and weight-saving benefits can be achieved by migrating from hydraulic actuation to electrical controls. Historic concerns about the reliability of electrical implementation are being brushed aside by a technology proven in the marine environment for three decades.
