Dr Martin Stillman-Jones FRS FRSA – Chairman
Martin has been with the business for over 15 years, taking responsibility for business strategy, planning, policy and development of the Senior Team. With a PhD in strategy, he is also a Chartered Engineer and has Masters degrees in both Business Administration and Engineering.
Keith Wells – Chief Executive Officer
Keith Wells is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and one of the founders of SMI. He is widely recognised as the UK’s leading subject matter expert on thermoplastic moulding for hostile environments, particular in subsea applications.
Keith has led the development of groundbreaking products across various market sectors including marine, aerospace, transport and alternative energy systems. Supported by a strong Senior Team, of highly skilled engineers and technicians, he is recognised globally for driving new levels of product performance – uniquely backed by 10-year performance warranties.
Denise Hunt – Contracts and Programmes Director
Both a Board Director and Group Board Director, Denise has at one time or another led most areas of factory operations and finance during more than 20 years at SMI. Her current focus is programme management for all major programmes from inception to delivery, bringing together activities from all stakeholders. Additionally, Denise leads SMI’s legal and contractual compliance areas.
Glen Richardson – Engineering Director
Glen is SMI’s Engineering Director with an impressive 25-year track record of bringing innovative ‘fit and forget’ products to market. Glen applies vision to his team’s expertise to steward critical technology transfers and solutions development across marine, aerospace and transport, in addition to the development of unique solutions in the offshore energy market.
Jenny Shaw – Commercial Director
Our Commercial Director, Jenny, has been at SMI for over five years and provides strategic leadership of the Marketing, Business Development and Delivery Teams, all busy migrating SMI technologies into business growth across our targeted sectors. A fibre optic specialist with 20 years’ experience in interconnect and cable infrastructure, most recently focussed on submarine applications, Jenny is responsible for SMI’s global commercial activity.
Catherine Jennings – People and Culture Director
Catherine is a driven and enthusiastic HR Director with over 20 years of experience. Her skills include talent acquisition, learning and development, coaching, employee engagement, compensation and benefits, talent management, delivering change initiatives and major projects. Catherine formulates personnel systems and culture strategies that deliver SMI’s mission and vision, as well as providing strategic counsel on all people matters.
A Chartered professional with a developed network of peers, Catherine ensures that SMI’s people practices are current and compliant with the latest employment law and that SMI is an employer of choice and provides a top-class employment environment.
As Head of Sustainability for SMI, Catherine also champions environmental improvement policies.
Carl Evans – Manufacturing and Supply Director
Carl manages our production facility and the Andover site, supervising all plant operations ensuring that the highest level of productivity, safety and quality are maintained at all times. He is focused on maintaining on-time delivery, reducing lead times, maximising productivity and improving key metrics across quality, cost and safety.
Nicholas Abbott – Finance Director
Nicholas Abbott joined SMI in April 2020. He has 15 years of accounting experience and has worked with a variety of companies from SMEs to FTSE250. He has delivered in a number of high impact finance areas, including strategy development, M&A, business transformation, FP&A and Finance Business Partnering. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Daniele Garramone – Head of Supply Chain
Daniele is a senior procurement and supply chain manager with over 10 years of experience in the electronics industry. He is highly skilled in global strategic sourcing and contract negotiation, as well as supply chain and supplier management, and has specific expertise in continuous process improvement across these areas. Daniele has an FdCs in Health, Safety and Environmental Management from Glyndwr University.
