unassailable ‘fit & forget’ pressure moulded cable systems for hostile environments

Penetrators

Penetrators are used to taking cabling from one space to another through a bulkhead. A bulkhead can be a simple partition or a critical barrier, such as a fuel tank or the pressure hull of a submarine. The penetrator must transition the cable through the bulkhead while preventing a leak from one side of the bulkhead to the other. This is a task that varies significantly in engineering complexity, as well as criticality.

Leak-Free Gland and Connectorised Penetrators

A penetrator can be a gland, which achieves the transition with cables permanently installed as part of the penetrator or a connectorised version, where receptacles on both sides of the bulkhead can be mated or de-mated.

SMI has been producing world leading penetrator designs for more than 25 years and has developed systems to deliver advanced future capability with total reliability.
