Unassailable Fit & Forget Pressure Moulded Cable Systems for Hostile Environments

Penetrators

Penetrators are used to taking cabling from one space to another through a bulkhead. A bulkhead can be a simple partition or a critical barrier, such as a fuel tank or the pressure hull of a submarine. Sometimes referred to as a feed-through, the penetrator must transition the cable through the bulkhead while preventing a leak from one side of the bulkhead to the other. This is a task that varies significantly in engineering complexity, as well as criticality.

Leak-Free Gland and Connectorised Penetrators

A penetrator can be a gland, which achieves the transition with cables permanently installed as part of the penetrator or a connectorised version, where receptacles on both sides of the bulkhead can be mated or de-mated.

SMI has been producing world-leading pressure hull penetrator (PHP) designs for more than 25 years and has developed systems to deliver advanced future capability with total reliability. Electrical hull penetrations have been joined by hybrid electro-optic solutions as the demand for bandwidth capacity has grown.
The density of services through a single penetration can be increased by using a junction box turret or a Multi Gland Penetrator.
