SMI works with renewable power generation customers to create bespoke cable systems that address challenging wave and tidal, floating solar and floating wind applications. Our solutions are being utilised in energy projects around the UK, as well as the Bay of Fundy.
Tidal turbines need to perform reliably over their life despite immersion in hostile subsea environments. SMI’s range of solutions are designed to meet those challenges and typically include harnesses, moulded specialist connectors and joints. Electrical connections for up to 17.5kV, export power and array links can be provided. Control and communications connections are supported electrically and optically and a range of dry and wet mat connectors are available.
Our engineers will work with you to find the right solution for your projects, typically including:

- Terrestrial and submarine cables and harnesses
- Water blocked electrical and fibre optic penetrators
