We are pleased to announce the promotion of Nicholas Abbott FCCA to Finance Director at SMI Ltd. 

With a proven track record of success within fast-growing, entrepreneurial environments Nicholas has supported the design and implementation of high growth strategies before, handy as SMI continues its journey to grow tenfold in ten years. 

Having joined in the early days of lockdown as Head of Finance, Nicholas hit the ground running, immediately rising to the challenges the pandemic presented. Despite similar businesses moving to shut down during 2020, SMI were tasked by the Ministry of Defence to maintain full capacity throughout, delivering our internationally renowned “fit and forget” central nervous system, mission critical, hostile environment harnesses.

Nicholas’s wide ranging skills in strategic analysis and consequential working capital management, offers perceptive insights and analysis to the senior team, delivering robust reporting of key performance indicators throughout operations, to enable ever higher quality decision making.

Nicholas brings over 15 years of finance experience across a range of industries to us, including eight years at De La Rue, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of bank notes, where he was promoted to Corporate Business Partner. In addition to core skills in financial management, planning and control, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions and investor relations, Nicholas was responsible for leading a group wide restructure.
