UK set to miss renewables target 2020
According to new analysis from the Energy and Climate Change Committee of MPs, the UK will miss the EU target to generate 15% of it’s energy from renewable sources by 2020.
Whilst investments are bearing fruit in some renewable areas, without major policy improvements we will not progress quickly enough to meet the overall target by 2020 the MPs warn. This is largely due to problems in renewable heating and transport technologies, which have their own targets to hit which they are currently falling far short of.
We work extensively in the renewable energy market and our workload from that sector continues to rise, we’re at the forefront of R&D making the impossible a few years ago now not only possible, but profitable. This is definitely the future of power, but we just need to get there as soon as possible to reach our challenging goals.
