Unassailable Fit & Forget Pressure Moulded Cable Systems for Hostile Environments

DSEI starts in just 24 days: what’s on our stand?

SMI stand at DSEI 2021 showcasing marine and aerospace products

DSEI is a vital forum for the world’s defence industry to get together and share information. We’re delighted that it’s taking place as a physical event this year. When the event opens on 14 September, you’ll find our stand (H6-214) straddling both marine and aerospace exhibition domains.

A marine product range that we will showcase at DSEI is our Multi Gland Penetrators (MGPs).

With systems onboard submarines now generating and consuming much more data, the need for power and data bandwidth has increased exponentially. Taking additional services through a submarine’s pressure hull in a traditional way would require further penetrations, each creating a critical safety risk.

SMI has developed its MGPs range to increase service density through a single pressure hull penetration, exploiting our pedigree in pressure hull glands while reducing risk and satisfying build flexibility. SMI has 27-years of continuous MOD capability approval for pressure hull glands and our latest MGPs have been tested and approved against the rigorous UK Defence Standards.

Our MGP technology can bring the services of up to five glands through a single pressure hull insert. Multiple cables are each sealed and water blocked, bringing a density that a connectorised approach cannot support. Additional cathodic protection technology protects the MGP and polyethylene mouldings ensure decades of reliable performance.

SMI’s submarine connector harnesses, glands and pressure hull penetrators enable future-proofed service delivery and ensure the performance of critical systems throughout a boat’s operational life. If this is an area of professional interest to you, please visit us on our stand.
